Delete Your Payment Retry Scripts — Stripe Workflows Is Live
Transcript
Every fintech team I've talked to has a Lambda function that retries failed payments, sends dunning emails, and pauses subscriptions. Most of them are fragile and untested. Stripe Workflows just made them unnecessary. Here's a workflow that retries, waits, then notifies — no custom infrastructure: Trigger: payment failed. Step one: wait 24 hours. Step two: retry payment. Condition: if still failed — Slack notify billing alerts, then pause subscription. That YAML replaces eighty lines of retry logic, backoff timers, and SQS queues. It loops, it branches, it calls Slack and Mailchimp natively — at Stripe scale, with Stripe's observability. This went generally available at Sessions 2026 with looping, conditional branching, programmatic invocation, and fourteen new integration partners including Sentry and ElevenLabs. If you're maintaining custom payment orchestration scripts in 2026, you're paying for infra you don't need. Link in bio.
