FedNow Sends Fraud Signals Before Money Moves — Use Them

Transcript

FedNow moves money in under three seconds. That's fast enough to lose money to fraud before you can react — unless you're listening for the pre-transaction signals. Here's the webhook handler: POST /fednow/pre-auth — if event type is payment.risk_signal and fraud score is above 0.85, return REJECT with reason high fraud score. Otherwise APPROVE. FedNow sends this before the payment instruction executes. You get a fraud score, velocity data, and account tenure — all before money moves. Without this handler, you're reacting to fraud after it's already settled. Reversals on instant payments are manual and slow. With the pre-auth webhook, you reject at the network layer. Reversals go from hours to zero. FedNow is now live at over one thousand financial institutions. If you're processing FedNow payments and not handling the pre-auth risk signal, you're exposed right now. Link in bio.
